On Saturday, June 28, Blue-eyed Soulstress Diane Durrett with Special Guest Connor Pledger filled our 4000+ square foot barn venue with their soulful vocals, strong original songs and raw talent. Durrett, a singer-songwriter who grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, has sung with Sting, The Indigo Girls, and Gregg Allman as well as opened for Tina Turner, Faith Hill and Jimmy Hall. Durrett’s discography includes an energy-driven breakthrough album,
acoustically-driven collection, an album with groove, as well as a holiday CD in 2012. Not only an artist, Durrett
has used her talents to produce, co-write music with those like Jerry Ragovoy, and author a book. Singing from
her soul, Durrett entertained the audience with her southern wit and brought forth a show like no other. Accompanied by musical extraordinaire, Junebug, Durrett played her guitar as sounds from cajon, tambourine and djembe drum echoed behind her.
Pledger, who currently resides in Athens, Georgia, is not a new face to the Lake Oconee area. Playing at Bone Island Grillhouse as well at The Ritz-Carlton Lodge in Greensboro, Pledger lays his heart right out on the stage at each of his shows opening his audience to his emotion-driven lyrics and genuine soul that made this singer-songwriter a perfect complement to The Barn. Pledger’s unmistakably unique voice brought forth memories of the sounds
of Sam Cooke, Stevie Wonder and Bill Withers to those in attendance. When Pledger hit the stage, the audience awed at the maturity of his voice and his raw musical talent. With wit and wisdom, Pledger entertained guests prior to Durrett’s performance.
